Compassion Fatigue Workshops

From veterinarians to kennel workers, all members of our practice teams are exposed to trauma and conflict every day.  Few have the social buffer or self-care tools to protect themselves from the often overlooked, and sometimes career ending slide into Compassion Fatigue.

Our workshops can help.

Workshop #1

Compassion Fatigue: Self Care for the Veterinary Practice Team

In this workshop, we guide your entire team in recognizing the signs of Compassion Fatigue as it is seen in the veterinary environment. Each member identifies their level of compassion fatigue through a recognized self assessment method. We then help create an individual compassion fatigue self-resilience plan that gives them the awareness and tools to support their needs.

Location:

We’re flexible, and we make it easy for you! This 2 hour workshop can be done as part of an extended team training meeting, a lunch and learn, a retreat or a stand alone event. It can be held onsite at your practice or off-site at a meeting place. Try a unique learning experience such as a local botanical garden or park, then follow it with a team BBQ. Let us know if you’d like a refreshing idea for an impactful workshop for your team.

Benefits:

This workshop mitigates the effects of compassion fatigue, reduces staff turnover, and improves practice culture, team performance and client and patient care.

Cost:

The workshop is $60 per person for 5 to 15 team members. Talk to us about pricing for smaller workshops; but really, just call a colleague at another practice, have them pull up a chair and join us. Every single person on your health care team is exposed to compassion fatigue, and we want to help, so you can save 10% if your entire practice team attends. Travel from Waterloo and any site booking fees are additional.

Workshop #2

Compassion Fatigue: Operations and Culture for Practice Leadership

Are you promoting compassion fatigue or burnout at your practice? The protocols, business systems and culture at a hospital can unintentionally expose your team to trauma, conflict and compassion fatigue. They can act like broken glass on the floor, hurting your team day after day, as they walk around your practice. You can sweep up the glass and learn innovative, practical changes that can be made to reduce your team’s exposure to the causes of compassion fatigue.

This workshop is for the practice leadership; the owners, medical directors, hospital managers, lead technicians or other key team members who deliver the policies, guidelines and standard operating procedures (SOP’s) for the practice.

One of Canada’s leading Certified Veterinary Practice Managers walks your leadership team through the hospital activities which not only encourage compassion fatigue, but almost guarantee it. We discuss meaningful changes to make to your SOP’s, practice culture and business operations. You learn how to mitigate your team’s exposure to compassion fatigue. By placing increased support on your employees needs, they can take better care of themselves, and better care of your clients and patients.

Location:

We’re flexible, of course, and we make it easy for you! This 2 hour workshop can also be done as part of an extended team training meeting, a lunch and learn, retreat or a stand alone event for practice leadership. It can be held onsite at your practice or off-site at a meeting place.

Benefits:

Your team will have greater job satisfaction and practice culture and improved team performance.

Cost:

This workshop costs $500 per practice for up to 4 practice leaders. Travel from Waterloo and site booking fees are additional.
